Honestly, Honest…Honestly

Hawaii Mobile Auto Repair Review

For me, “mechanics” has always had a negative connotation. When dealing with a mechanic when I take my car into a car repair shop, I’ve always kept my walls up and kept cautious when dealing with the mechanics. Even though if I rationally think about my past experiences with auto repair shops, I don’t think I’ve been cheated or ripped off. I guess the negativity comes from the horror stories that I’ve heard or watched on television where mechanics take advantage of people’s ignorance relating to vehicle repair, service, or maintenance.

Well, the only time I’ve ever felt cheated was when I has a nail in one of my tires and the mechanic/salesperson talkiness me into buying a whole new 4 set of tires. And I felt that he inflated the price on me.

Anyway, I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way towards mechanics. But, if you really think about it, not all auto mechanics fit into that stereotype. And I have proof! Continue reading

Keep The Country Kountry

Kountry Style Kitchen Ewa Beach Restaurant Review

There is not much news going on in Ewa Beach, but there is a lot going on there. It is a city that is slowly growing.

I guess the goal is to make the traffic heavy city more independent of its needs for the people so that they don’t need to travel out too often. Well it’s happening.

I found a little gem by way of a friend’s Facebook post of a fairly new restaurant located in the heart of Ewa Beach in a small strip mall off to the right side before the McDonald’s if you’re going “Ewa Bound”.

Kountry Style Kitchen originated in Kauai and has made it to Oahu. Opening up in the country, Ewa Beach, is seemingly perfect to “keep the country, country” as some locals protest. And Ewa Beach doesn’t have much to offer as far as a nice independent local eatery. So it seems like a perfect fit. Continue reading

Life Gets Better With Age And So Does Steak

D.K. Steakhouse Honolulu, Hawaii Review

Yes, life does get better with age. As you get older you are able to do more stuff, you know more stuff (usually), and you can eat anywhere you want and get stuffed. Life is even better when you have significant others to do all of the stuff together.

To celebrate me and my significant other’s (girlfriend) 3 year anniversary of being in Love and officially a couple, we decided to have dinner at a well renowned restaurant here in Honolulu, Hawaii.

D.K. Steakhouse is located in the heart of Waikiki in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa overlooking Waikiki Beach. Given that parts of Waikiki has been updated and renovated, the hotel is a laggard with keeping up with the times and D.K.’s is reflective of that as well. But in all it reminds me of Waikiki of the 90’s which is bitter-sweet.

For a Sunday night it was not that busy. No one was really waiting in the waiting area to be seated but yet when we requested a walk-in table for two, they told us that it would be a 15 min wait. We was offered to sit at the bar to wait for our table. I think it’s just a tactic Continue reading

Save Time Equals Saving Money

In business talk: if time is money, that would mean money is time. So if I save time, I’m saving money, correct?

In any case, I found out how to save both money and time with a great house cleaning service company here in Hawaii.

Hawaii Home Cleaners is a great company to get your home cleaning needs done. Well, they are the very first cleaning company that I worked with but so far so good.

I had our 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment cleaned by them and it was a pleasant experience. I  had them general clean the house in which I gave them some specific duties. But they did way more than what I asked for. They cleaned and organized the bathroom, living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. They folded our laundry, dusted, wiped down, vacuumed, mopped, and scrubbed.

I hesitantly Continue reading

Buca Di Beppo Ward Review

In the heart of Ward Shopping Center in Honolulu, Hawaii is a nice little family style Italian restaurant-  well, what Italian restaurant isn’t “family-style”.

Right under the Ward Theaters, Buca Di Beppo is seemingly always busy and full of energy. In my 20+ years born and raised in Hawaii, I’ve never ate there. It was just a background image to me whenever I went to the theaters or Dave & Busters upstairs. I was never drawn to Buca or ever thought about eating there.

It was just one afternoon when me and my family were out in the area that we thought that we should try it out.

As I mentioned it always seemed busy in there. We went there on a Tuesday afternoon around 6 pm, so it wasn’t as busy as it has been seen on the weekends. With no reservation we just checked in with the hostess for a party of three. She kindly asked us to have a seat until a table is ready for us.

The ambiance (decor) was very casual. Historical pictures of landmarks, scenic places, celebrities, and art pieces plastered the walls along with some Italian decor. It was just a nude male Roman art piece that I thought was inappropriate to be displayed in the waiting area, especially in a restaurant that is meant for families. But other than that, about 15 minutes of waiting time our name was called by the hostess and our waitress lead us to our dining table.

The waitress asked us Continue reading
